Our Favorite Coffee Spots on Hilton Head Island, SC

We have been visiting Hilton Head the past two weeks and had gotten a few questions on where we go for coffee while we are on the island. Now, coffee is not hard to find on the island – almost every resort and grocery store has a Starbucks. However, we love supporting local businesses, so we would teamed up with @thecoffeetraveler_ to share our favorite, local coffee spots on the island!

Java Burrito

Java Burrito is an amazing experience. They serve up epic Mexican eats from their made to order breakfast & burrito bar – the food is delicious, high quality, & so fresh. But we are not here to talk about food. Walk past the line for the food bar to the far wall, and you’ll find a big menu (almost as big as their food menu) overhead, reading “Coffee + More.” Java Burrito has it all – smooth and bold daily brews, cold brew on tap, a range of espresso drinks, and seasonal latte specials. They offer dairy substitutions and organic flavoring like vanilla, caramel, and hazelnut. And hey, since you’re on vacation – you can spike any of your coffee drinks to create your own coffee cocktail! Feeling like dessert? No problem, ask them to add a scoop of ice cream or vegan ice cream to your latte. Don’t need a pick me up? Java Burrito also offers many different non-espresso lattes like a Turmeric Latte or Beetroot Latte, and they also have a selection from Charleston Tea, the only tea farm in North America. Just trust on this one and go experience it for yourself!

Carolina Coffee & Crumbs

Carolina Coffee & Crumbs is an adorable shop in Coligny with lots of outdoor seating under big blue umbrellas, and tons of coastal themed indoor seating to sit and sip.  They serve a variety of coffee and tea drinks in the cutest hot cups ever. We highly recommend the Almond Joy Latte which is almond, coconut, and mocha- you can get it hot or iced! Take your bev to go and stroll around the Coligny specialty shops or walk a block to the beach and sip your worries away in the sunshine.

The G-Free Spot

The G-Free Spot is a gourmet, gluten free, take-out bakery and eatery on the north end of the island. They offer gluten free breads, baked goods, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch and have regular items as well. While stopping by to pick up some gluten free peach muffins, we decided to try some of their coffee. They have really great and smooth Iced Coffee and Cold Brew, and they make a delicious Chai tea Latte. Bonus – on Fridays and Saturdays they bake their famous, gluten free cinnamon rolls – you can smell them from a mile away and they sell out fast. Head there to pick up some tasty baked goods and coffee to go!

The French Bakery

The French Bakery is a charming café that sits right across from Broad Creek in Shelter Cove. They have outdoor seating, so you can dine and gaze over the waterfront. Now onto their coffee… if you order an Iced Coffee from the French Bakery, it comes with frozen coffee iced cubes so your ice never waters down your coffee. What is better than that?? They also make an amazing cappuccino and have rotating seasonal lattes. We were last there in March and they had a Shamrock Cappuccino – espresso, white chocolate, and peppermint. We love coming here as a pit stop on our long bike rides or grabbing an iced coffee and walking around the Shelter Cove park.

North End Coffee Co.

North End Coffee Company is a seasonal café with purpose. They give all of their profits to help benefit the local community. Each month they select a local organization to donate to. They are making a difference in the lives of the people of Hilton Head and Bluffton and its amazing. Everyone should stop in for a visit. Their coffee stand is outside Christian Renewal Church and is so cute! They have a white coffee bar with plants and all their fixings to make a delicious cup of joe. They also have a great outdoor space to sit, relax, and enjoy your coffee under the mossy oaks. Their menu ranges from espresso shots and lattes to hot chocolate and teas. They are closed for the Fall and Winter but make sure to check them out when they open back up for the season!

Our Bluffton Fave: Corner Perk

We would be remiss if we did not mention our go-to coffee spot OFF the island. Corner Perk is a brunch café located in the Promenade in Bluffton. It is so charming in the historical section of Bluffton, and they roast their own coffee! We stock up on the Pluff Mud blend bags to take back home to NJ. They have an amazing cold brew and latte menu. The best part? Grab your drink and climb the stairs outside to sit on their big porch and relax outside.
